A few months ago, my grandmother unearthed a children’s story she’d written over 20 years ago about a young boy. She asked me to illustrate the cover. I agreed but have been anxious about it ever since – I haven’t done a lot of watercolor painting, and I also hadn’t been drawing many people lately (well, I haven’t been drawing much at all lately, period). I’m a bit more comfortable drawing animals.
Winsor & Newton Drawing Inks
Portrait in ink
I know I mentioned this yesterday, but oh, how I love that black Winsor & Newton ink. This was my second attempt using the ink set I recently got & I decided to try for a black & white ink drawing with lots of contrast. Having never really done that before, I was pretty pleased with the result!
Hummingbird in ink
Hoo boy… Well, it’s a new year, & time for new goals. One of mine is to get back to regularly posting on here again. A minimum of three posts a week – I can do that, right? Yes I can! I’ve been quite a bit more active with music lately, hence the lack of posting here. However, I really really miss posting here on a regular basis & seeing everyone else’s artwork!
For Christmas, I was given a lovely set of Winsor & Newton Drawing Inks. They are really fun, and the black ink is so incredibly satisfying, so black & glossy, I still can’t get over it. This is the first thing I tried with the set – a hummingbird.
