I’m currently pet-sitting for my parents who are off in Florida, so today you get a drawing of their Boston Terrier, Rupert (just the head, though – it was late last night). He was curled up in a chair when I wanted to draw him, which wasn’t the pose I really wanted. So instead, I tried to take some pictures, which proved difficult to do because as soon as I got close to him he got super excited & was trying to lick me.
I had a limited amount of time last night to draw, so I tried two more cartoon-y, stylized portraits – again working from reference photos. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m really interested in animation, illustration, comics – that sort of thing. So while I’m trying to learn the fundamentals, it’s nice to try my hand at something like this. Continue reading
Maybe stylized isn’t the right word? It’s a bit cartoon-y. I drew the top one late last night working from a reference photo & was originally attempting for a more lifelike representation, but then fudged it up. So I went for a more stylized drawing, & I’m actually rather pleased with the result – mainly because this is something that I can’t ever remember attempting before, & I’m surprised I could even manage it.
