I did not wake up thinking, “Today I will draw a cheap lantern.” But sometimes, when your day is packed, you have to seek out an opportunity to get some drawing in. In my case, I had a full day, and in the evening, I found myself manning a tent with a group that I volunteer with at a local festival. We had a couple tables set up and some cheap lanterns for when it got dark (actually, the others were good, but this one was pretty cheap). I’d brought some drawing supplies since I was going to be there for at least a few hours.
Hello, hello. I haven’t posted here since July 2017! Two years ago I started doing a degree program in music composition and theory, and after an extremely busy, chaotic (and somewhat unhealthy) two years, I am happy to report that I’ve graduated. I’ve also left my full time job after 10 years to take a bit of a “sabbatical” for myself, and so I’m fortunate to find myself with more time on my hands as I figure out where I’m headed in this next stage in life.
I technically started this drawing a bit earlier in June, but most of it was done last week while I was visiting family in Galveston, Texas. Donkeys are pretty great and I’m reading a book right now that has a couple of donkey characters in it, so a donkey drawing seemed appropriate at this time.
Continuing my experimentation with watercolor, I tried my hand at painting a flower at the request of my mother. It has an ink outline like a lot of my other stuff, but this time I went for a thinner line & a more loose quality (I think I tend to have bolder outlines). I’ve tried this a few times before, like with the watercolor of my cat.
I’m kind of getting this in right at the last moment! However, I’m feeling pretty good that I’ve managed to upload a drawing once a week so far this year.
Hello! I believe this has been my longest gap in posting, so it feels great to get another drawing up after all this time. I have been doing some drawing on and off, but mostly as gifts and I just haven’t had a chance to scan and upload the drawings after I’ve done them (and they are now out of my hands anyway).
