Wood carving at the Mead Art Museum

Wood carving, 7.9.17

Wood carving, 7.9.17

This is my first pencil drawing in a while – aside from some gestures I did in February, I don’t think I’ve done a purely pencil drawing since last February.

Donkey in black ink

Donkey, 6.22.17

Donkey, 6.22.17

I technically started this drawing a bit earlier in June, but most of it was done last week while I was visiting family in Galveston, Texas. Donkeys are pretty great and I’m reading a book right now that has a couple of donkey characters in it, so a donkey drawing seemed appropriate at this time.

Meeting Frog, 6.5.17

Well, well, well! Look who’s back! Yes, it is I. My goal to update every week fell by the wayside, but in my defense, I’m now a full-time student in addition to working full-time+, so it was hard to stick to that goal during the spring semester. However, I should have some time this summer and hope to update the blog a bit more over the next few months. Ink Kitten, 5.17.16

5 Minute Rat

5 Minute Rat, 3.30.16

5 Minute Rat, 3.30.16

I think it’s a little sad that I haven’t drawn since Draw a Bird Day earlier this month. I think my schedule will start to ease up by the end of April, but in the meantime, I will still make an attempt to get back to drawing & posting regularly.

So with that goal in mind, here’s a reminder that even 5 minutes a day is better than nothing. I joined a coursera class called “How to Make a Comic Book”, because what better way to get me to make something like a comic than to sign up for a class & give me deadlines? Well, we’ll see if I actually finish the class, but the first assignment was to draw something in 5 minutes, so I chose to draw a quick rat from a reference photo.
