My final painting from Galveston! This was an airplane, a Boeing-Stearman N2S-3 from the Lone Star Flight Museum. I really love old airplanes & aviation in general, but I’ve never attempted to planes, or really any sort of vehicle, until now.
This also is an extension of my experimenting with layering of colors that started with that Rocky Mountain landscape watercolor. Most of that can be found with the blue-ish grays of the metal (this painting took me forever to do). I also decided to go with an ink outline in this painting, & I don’t regret it.
This is one of my favorites in recent memory! Not perfect, but I think it’s perhaps my favorite painting that I’ve done.
