I actually spent a little more time drawing than I anticipated this weekend. I’ve been wanting to try drawing buildings/architecture, & on Saturday, I decided to draw this “Sail Loft” building from Salem, MA. I outlined it & detailed it in ink as well. This was done in my new pocket-sized notebook with a Micron pen. It’s really hard to get all those details in when you’re working on such a small drawing.
I have mixed feelings about this one, like everything I do, but overall it turned out better than I expected. I really don’t have any experience drawing this sort of stuff, so it was a challenge. It actually took forever to do!
This is the House of the Seven Gables, also in Salem, MA, which I drew yesterday. Parts of this I like better than the Sail Loft building above. However, it was more challenging & a lot of the angles are off. Plus, I’m still getting used to shading in ink – it’s more difficult than in pencil.
So either way, I’ve finally gotten in some architecture drawing & I’m not at as bad of a starting point as I anticipated, so that’s good.
And finally, to close, here are some gesture drawings that I did on Friday:
These were mostly 90-120 second gesture drawings.
To me that is spectacular. I like that building quite a lot.

More great gestures.
And I like your buildings, too–I find architecture difficult. I actually love the odd angles on the house.

Thank you. It is difficult – it surprised me how time consuming it was, but I think it’s partially because I inked them in as well.
