I had a limited amount of time last night to draw, so I tried two more cartoon-y, stylized portraits – again working from reference photos. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m really interested in animation, illustration, comics – that sort of thing. So while I’m trying to learn the fundamentals, it’s nice to try my hand at something like this.
I still think the first one yesterday was my best one, but I’m not displeased with either of these.
So, today & tomorrow are both going to be late nights for me. I’ll try my best to get something done, even something small.
What is “cartoon-y?” Is it the solid lines or well-developed features? But that doesn’t seem right. I think I know what you mean. But these are terrific. They are really fun to look at.

I’m not too sure, actually. I don’t think it’s the right (made up) word to use, but for lack of a better term… I guess what I mean is, it’s clearly not an attempt at a lifelike drawing of a person, but more like something you’d see in a comic, cartoon, some sort of illustration, etc.
Anyway, thanks!

I really like the top one here. She looks like she has a lot of attitude.

Thanks! She’s my favorite of the two as well.
